613 Avenue Create #182 - ATG with Optional Twist - Sights, Tastes, & Sounds of Summer

So how are you today? Just dandy, I hope. I'm feeling especially good as I'm launching my new blog look. (It actually took place yesterday, but it's official today as I have a brand new post. Never mind the small fact that the look showed up yesterday when I was unable to make a new post - LOL!)

But first, be sure to check out 613 Avenue Create to see the details on our challenge. You have the option to use this fun chart to boost your creativity:

Our DT has created some fabulous designs that you will want to see. And don't forget about last week's winners - perhaps you are one!

Now more about the new look of my blog. Isn't it just grand?! For the longest time, I've wanted to update my blog, but didn't know what to do or how to do it. Then I met Loll Thompson of Stamping with Loll. She is responsible for all that you now see. Loll is a very special and multi-talented lady, and I'm so grateful to her. She was very patient with me. I've still got a lot to learn about this new look so there will be some minor tweaking going on in the future - LOL!

Thanks for visiting!

Spotlight Technique

I'm back with a second post today. As I blog hopped a few days ago, I stopped by Brenda's blog, Friend's Craftin' with Friends. She posted a tutorial for a beautiful card she had made here. After checking it out, I decided I had to CASE her card. Here's her card:

And here's my CASE card:

I wish I could have cropped the picture better, but I wasn't able to, so I had to make it bigger here on the blog for you to see it. I used the outline stamp and sentiment from the Altenew Beautiful Day set. It's colored with Spectrum Noir markers (CT 1, 2 &4 & GB 4). The sequins are Pretty Pink Posh. The card stock is Recollections. After cutting the inside panel with a Fawn Lawn Stitched Die, I used foam tape to pop it up when I adhered it after coloring. I really love how it turned out, and give a big shout out to Brenda and to Mary (Carolina Cards by Mary H). They are two great blog buddies and wonderful card makers!!

I'm entering these challenges:  Altenew June Inspiration Challenge (Photo); Simon Says Monday Challenge - Summer Garden; Just Us Girls #347 - Trend (Spotlighting); and Addicted to Stamps #128 - Flowers.

A Card for Father's Day

I actually made my husband a Father's Day card a couple of weeks ago. That's unusual for me, I'm usually more last minutes, LOL! It's another golf themed card - golf is his passion. Here it is:

The golf image is from Impression Obsession. It's popped up on the DP, and I added the shadow with a Spectrum Noir marker to ground him. I used a friend's stamp for the sentiment, so I don't know who made it. The enamel dots are Theresa Collins.

But it's the DP that I want to tell you about - I made the plaid paper myself using Spectrum Noir markers and a technique I learned from Catherine Pooler here. I have a leftover piece of this pattern that I will use later. It was easy as pie to make, and I'm delighted with the result. I generally don't try different techniques, but this one was so clear cut and so easy I decided to give it a go. You can bet I'll be creating more plaids. Next time, maybe I'll create a plaid for a feminine card.

I'm entering these challenges: Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Father's Day/For a Guy; Paru's Card Making Challenges - June - Father's Day; Crafting with Friends #22 - Anything Goes; Crazy 4 Challenges - Make it Masculine.

Take it easy, my friends, and craft as much as you can!!

Flower Card with the MISTI

Today I'm back with a flower card I made it for a friend using Altenew's Painted Flowers and my MISTI.  This was my first effort using the MISTI.  I have to say I was reluctant to spend money on it, despite having seen many videos of bloggers using the MISTI.  But then I went to a make and take at a local scrapbook store, used it, and was immediately hooked.  I love how easy it makes stamping, although for me it's not as easy as it appears.  For one thing, the doggone magnets don't always hold my paper down.  I ended up getting 2 additional smaller magnets, so now I use 4.  But they have to be in just the right position to keep the paper down.  I see some folks not even use magnets and still get great stamping, but I haven't managed to do that even on scrap paper.

The layering can be quite a challenge, but practice does help. I find that my "senior" eyes need a lot of daylight, not just artificial light from a lamp. And it took me a while to figure out colors that worked well together. But all in all, I think the card was worth my efforts.

I stamped the flowers with Versamark Black ink, scribbled Distress markers on the flowers and leaves, sprayed the card with water, and let the colors do their thing.  I am really happy with the result. I trimmed the panel and double matted it. The sentiment is CTMH and I heat embossed it. Finally, I added some sequins.

I'm entering these challenges:  Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge - Summer Garden; Addicted to Stamps - Flowers; Crazy for Challenges - C4C338 - Make it Floral; and Addicted to CAS #89 - Code Petals.

Do you have a MISTI?  If you don't, have you had a chance to try it out?  I'm interested to hear what you think about it.  Have a great day, my friends!

613 Avenue Create #179 Anything Goes - Option : Create A Wedding Stationery Item

Hello, my crafty friends!  Our Anything Goes challenge at 613 Avenue Create this week has the option to Create a Wedding Stationery Item.  Our sponsors are Inky Impressions and Bugaboo.  I used an image from Inky Impressions and opted not to use the twist.  I created a tag for a gift bag, not specifically a wedding gift.  The image is Warm Hello Circle, one I've used before as I really like it a lot.

I printed it on Recollections 100 lb cardstock and colored it with my Spectrum Noirs (OR2 & 3 and GB4).  Then I cut it with a fancy circle Nestie (don't know the name as it's removed from the package).  Before removing it from the die, I dusted it lightly with yellow chalk.  I attached it to the gift bag with baker's twine.  Cute, don't you think?

I'm entering my totally CAS tag in these challenges:  Addicted to CAS #89 - Petals; Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C339 - Make It Floral; and Crafting with Friends #22 - Anything Goes.

I hope you have a great week!
